In the contemporary world, there is no stable notion of the present. No Limits seeks to address this instability of the present through the prism of media. Through interdisciplinary studies in the fields of film, television, music, print, and adio, the chapters in this volume locate the contemporary in Indian media environment post 1980s transition. They also discuss the relation between media technology and the public, and record its change over time: how the same audience which was earlier consuming media is now a producer of it. India`s rapid move to become an increasingly mediatised society was not anticipated when globalization began in the 1980s. Being a nascent discipline, media studies in India can be looked at differently compared to that in the West. This volume discusses the contours of media studies as a young and emergent field in India.
