The present work deals with the revolt of 1857 in the region of Eastern Uttar Pradesh which includes Banaras, Ghazipur, Jaunpur, Mirzapur, Azamgarh and Gorakhpur districts of that time. This micro level study discusses the specific reasons, main events and nature of the rebellion, the role of Nepal Army in this area, limitations of the rebels, causes of their failure, consequences and significance of the revolt, but its main focus is on the structure of Rebels`World ,its prominent leaders, and more new informations related to them. New lights have also been shed on Maulvi Sarfaraz Ali of Gorakhpur, an important figure and one of the architects of the revolt. The study fills an important gap in the field of regional study of 1857.
