It is an endeavoured to inscribe this little comprehensive book with a profound sense of its many deficiencies but in the hope that however widely some of them may dissent from not a few of the opinions the author has ventured to express they will at least believe that these are inspired by a sincere love of the province and the people whose welfare we have all alike at heart. The book contains eight chapters which discuss --the garden of India, a few facts and figures, early Oudh history and legend, the nawabi, annexation, 15 months of Zamindari policy, ten years of Taluqdari policy, and conclusions. This book has been considered by academicians and scholars of great significance and value to literature. This forms a part of the knowledge base for future generations. We have represented this book in the same form as it was first published. Hence any marks seen are left intentionally to preserve its true nature. Originally it was first published in 1880.
