The book describes abotu the trends, issues and policies, approaches, effect of urban poverty on women, access to basic services, and shelter in India in detail. It attempts to identify workable, practical measures to manage urban poverty effectively. In addition to the above, the problems requiring immediate attention of policy makers, administrators, researchers and academics have been covered in the book. About Author : Sabir Ali, a geographer-planner by profession, did his post-graducation from Jawaharlal Nehru University and specialization in town and country planning from the School of Planning and Archtiecture, New Delhi. He obtained doctoral degree from the University of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh). He has been associated with a number of research assignments in India as well as abroad for more than two decades. Apart from a number of articles in various research journals, he has several books to his credit. At present he is Professor Environment in Al-Merghab University, Khoms, Republic of Libya (on lien from the Council for Social Development, New Delhi where he is Senior Fellow).
