Microbes are integral component of soil - plant system and play a significant role in soil system structure and functioning. Forests play a very important role in maintaining the environmental and ecological processes in the terrestrial systems and microbes being ubiquitously distributed across the varied soil types, also has equally important role particularly in the nutrient cycling in soil – plant-microbe system. In this tripartite relationship, the microbes being in between the soil and plant, has a key role to perform various important biochemical processes and also act a bridge between the two. This book endeavors to explore the role of different groups of microbes in the biodiversity enrichment, forest productivity, land restoration, agricultural productivity and green technology. Also this compilation provides comprehensive understanding of plant-microbe interactions covering broad range of microbial actions and discusses diverse aspects viz. microbes and plant productivity, taxonomy, biodiversity, biocontrol, bio-inoculants in forest nurseries and in the field. In this book emphasis is mainly given on mutualistic interactions especially on plant Mycorrhizae and Plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR). The biological control efficiency of certain groups of microbes and the diversity of lichens and its role in ecosystem functioning is also discussed. The compilation also addresses how effectively and by what mechanism this interaction affects each other (Microbes and plants) and sustains incessantly and helps to make this system more productive and sustainable ISBN - 9788172338572
