The destiny of India in its historical perspective is shaped and designed by the sacrifices of heroes and great men who gought against the predatory policy and barbarous methods of colonial exploitation and the British intruders in India. The colonial slavery nurtured the resentment of India people who organized themselves to take the bull by the horns.
My wary conscience feels gratified to give expression to the valour of those great warriors of this freedom movement, who lived for India and died for it. One of those great heroes of the first quarter of the 20th Century was Lala Lajpat Rai popularly called The Sher-e-Punjab. In the course of freedom struggle he headed a demonstration against the Simmon Commission at Lahore railway station. The wee hours of the fateful day of Nov. 17, 1928 witnessed a cowardly and fatal assault on this son of the soil, Every blow inflicted upon us will prove a nail in the coffin of British Empire. Though he counld not survive to see Swaraj, yet he paved a way for posterity to have it.
