Information is regarded as power in modern times. This power is stored, processed and disseminated in the libraries and information centres for efficient and effective use. In the process of more and more advancement and research LIS has become interdisciplinary education. Many new branches of knowledge, such as, management studies, computer science, information science, information technology, communication studies, etc., have been accepted by LIS discipline.
