The author can think of no better way of introducing the reader to my work than to reproduce below the observations of a sympathetic visitor, who recorded his first impressions of the Chingleput Reformatory in the columns of the Madras Mail. This book contains an account of the author’s experiences at the famous Reformatory of Chingleput, now part of Tamil Nadu, where a large number of juvenile criminals were brought under his wings. He had taken care to maintain the high standard of the descriptive excellence for which he has been known coupled with the accent on policy formulation for the campaign to reform juvenile criminals.
