A Collection of small stories written for children abroad by a missionary that illustrate the various aspects of India life. The book is coloured through a missionary lens and seeks to compare the ideals of India life and beliefs unfavorably with that of Christian life. It is a simply written book with 5 parts that are further divided in the different stories under the respective heads. Part 1 describes the surroundings of Indian life which has stories on the religion, caste, holy places etc of the Hindus. Part 2 is about the Hindus with chapters describing the life of Hindu children and some ceremonies life marriage, death etc. Part 3 is about the gods and festivals. Part 4 is about the religions apart from Hinduism, and the last part is about the missionary activities in India. This book is a reprint of the 1883 edition.
