The entire narrative is based on the happenings of the Bhoja Raja. The writer of the book has explored all the avenues which happened during the reign of Bhoja Raja. Inscriptions, tradition, history and literature have all been pressed into service, and unique picture of the main protagonist of Dhara stands out in bold relief against a background of the Eleventh century India which he has succeeded in painting so graphically. This book was to have been only the first a long series of historical studies which the late Professor Ayyangar had contemplated for publication under the auspices of the Annamalai University. But except one memorial to his association with this university, others are not possible due to his untimely demise. The illustrations and maps require a word of explanation. The subject of the book is interesting for the Indian historians. The author has preserved these fine pictures from oblivion, which he considers his duty.
