The translator is a complete lay-woman where medicine is concerned. Latin and English names owe their origin to the court physician; but many others where uncertainty occurs, have, necessarily, to be left in their Vernacular form. This manuscript is very tender, and it is possible it may not last many years longer. Translated from the original very old Hindi into Gujarati character and thence into English. The original manuscript is very ancient and in tender shape. It was written in a peculiar form of Hindi. Many of the medicines, especially the ointments, used with our modern antiseptics appear worth a trial. The wise should study the verses, and look on them with a favorable eye rather than with the look of a caviling critic. The book is the product of extensive study of this topic. The subject matter is good and interesting and also very useful.
