  One of the earliest accounts written by an Englishman who visited Nepal in the year 1793. The substance of this book is the account kept by the author, who went to Nepal with the objective of effecting a negotiation between the Nepalese and the Chinese. The author traveled from Patna to Kathmandu via Murniary, Hettowra, Segouly. All along the way the route is meticulously described detailing the topography, the forests, the fauna, the produce. In Nepal he describes the natural surroundings, religion, customs and manners, historical background, systems of law, etc. The book has an appendix that lists the official papers and letters that were related to the authors mission to Nepal. This book is a reprint of the 1811 edition
