The book deals with the discussion, criticism and systematic arrangement of our knowledge of the indigenous system of Ancient Indian Numismatics up to the3rd century A.D. with special reference to Northern India. It embodies the result of his work on a rather intricate and difficult subject which had not received the amount of attention from scholars which it fully deserves. The author has spared no pains in making an exhaustive study of the literature on the subject and put it under a systematic and thorough criticism which had led to the discovery of new facts and the correction of many errors.
