The hyms of the Devaram were composed by 3 authors- Sambandar, appariswami and sundaramurti and written between the 6th and 8th centuries A.D. The Tiruvachagam was composed by Manikya Vacagara at an uncertain date. This book is a collection of 136 stanzas and offers a short note on the poets before the start of their hymns.
