This is the travelogue of a great gamer journey across Tibet from Leh in Ladakh to Shangai in China. The journey was under taken during the years of 1891-1892. Being a long journey through diverse terrain and cultures, this book is rich in description. As with narratives of this kind, the author faithfully recounts all that he saw and experienced. The people, their customs and habits, their culture and history, the topography and terrain, daily temperature readings, all are packed into this racy and interesting book. Hamilton Bower was a captain in the 17th Bengal Cavalry when he undertook this voyage ostensibly on a geographical expedition, travels of these kinds were often ones of reconnaissance and intelligence reports were prepared by them. Further more Bower was also the officer commissioned to track down the murderer of Andrew Dalgelsh. The book has 50 illustrations.
