This book examines Pakistan`s development in an historical context, with particular emphasis on the period following General Pervez Musharraf`s coup in October 1999. It traces many of the importance moments of Pakistan`s economic evolution`for instance, after being ostracised from the comity of nations, which had various negative conseuences on the economy, 9/11 allowed General Musharraf to return as the US frontile coalitionpartner in its was against terror.
Questionng the claim that Pakistan has experienced a sustainable turn-around in its economy, the book argues that in onred to achieve high and sustainabel grwoth and development, Pakistan will need to put its domestic house in order and to concentrate on improving relatiosn at the regional level, particularly with India.
