Over the years, leadership has been studied extensively in various contexts and theoretical foundations. Leadership is typically defined by the traits, qualities and behaviours of a leader. Though much research has been done to identify the traits, but no clear answer was found with regard to which traits consistently were associated with great leadership. This book deals with empirical study of the leadership behaviour of principals of the education colleges. The very first chapter covers leadership in the college setting, the importance of educational leadership, concept of leadership, principal of the college as a leader, relationship between leadership behaviour and job satisfaction, personal effectiveness, organizational culture and organizational climate. Second chapter covers theoretical background and deals with both the personal and institutional variables job satisfaction, personal effectiveness, organizational culture and the dependent variable leadership behaviour in detail. The third chapter reviews related literature on and the above mentioned variables. Fourth chapter deals with the methodology of the study which involves hypotheses, sampling and data collection. Fifth chapter gives data analysis and interpretation of finding results. The last chapter discusses educational implications and conclusions of the study.
