This book is the subject matter that was a part of the Journal of the Bombay Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society, in 1851. the author describes the presence of many pre-historic stone structures, cairns, and burial mounds found in the Deccan (at the time of writing this book, the area was more or less within the boundaries of the Hyderabad state). It is an academic book, replete with hitherto unknown details of these funerary locations. The book is divided geographically, and offers historical accounts of locations in Jiwarji (near Ferozabad), Shorapur, Rajan-Kollur, Mandewalli, Ijeri, etc. There is an article which analyses the skulls, the artifacts, pottery and implements found at the sties.
