Book Summary of The CIO EDGE: 7 Leadership Skills You Need To Drive Results While much has been published on how to manage technology, little detailed research has been conducted on what makes a CIO succeed as a leader. Our 2004 book by Marianne Broadbent (The New CIO Leader) focused on getting technology leaders a seat at the strategy table. Now, this book, a collaborative effort between Gartner and Korn/Ferry International, will explore the often overlooked but most critical aspect of being a CIO: How to be a high performing people-to-people leader. The CIO Leadership Edge will combine Korn Ferry`s unique data on the core competencies of the most highly successful CIOs with Gartner`s wealth of CIO research to provide a specific look at the leadership aspect of the CIO role today.
After establishing the unique characteristics of successful CIOs, interviews with world-class CIOs will provide a practical view into how those competencies have been developed and used by top technology leaders. Finally, the book will also provide an assessment to help readers benchmark their own competencies to the highest performers.
