This book teaches the basics of essential technologies necessary in today`s Web-enabled world. The book lays a solid foundation in HTML and CSS and then builds coverage of how to effectively use scripting (JavaScript, CGI, PHP) to deliver content. The book focuses on the programming (Web building) audience, covering coding (the use of programming techniques) and does not attempt to cover topics typically associated with Web document books--server setup, document content, marketing, GUI application use, etc. My reason for this is simple: this audience, programmers, doesn`t need that info. This book assumes that the Web programmer and the Web content owner are two distinct individuals with their own distinct agendas.
