Authored by a medical doctor, this book presents very credible arguments in favour of nutritional medicine particularly antioxidants of varying potency. Dr. Strands research is based on extensive studies of 1,300 cases of serious chronic illnesses and degenerative diseases like diabetes, cancer, multiple sclerosis, heart disease, Alzheimers etc. These studies are from mainstream journals like the Journal of American Medicine, Lancet and The New England Journal of Medicine. His argument is that less than 6% of graduating physicians in the USA receive any formal training in nutrition so the question of training in nutritional supplementation does not even arise. This, probably, applies to most countries in the world today. He, on the other hand having trained in Medicine decided to seriously study Nutrition and Nutritional Medicine and cites examples of success in his own personal experience. Dr. Strands book is definitely worth a read particularly as what he advocates can do little harm especially when compared to the potent drugs that are used in the treatment of the diseases listed above.
