India was not alone in its fightr against British Imperialism and colonialism. Far form it, Hitler`s Germany was always at hand to extend moral and material support. It is agreed that the official policy of tje Administration followed a roller - coster track in support of India, there is no denying the fact that the American Congress, public and the media, print as well as alectronic went out its way to render political, moral and finincial support. The book covers the American aspect fairly comprehensively, it follows two extream : It is either excessively pro-American and the American support is eulogized t ono end, or it goes in the opposite direction in as much as it runs down the positive facets of American contributiuon besides imputing derogatory motovies in some cases. And both sides lack in integrating the Indian polotical point of view and events, and their impact on the international scene. The Chinese moral and political support for the cause of Indian freedom was most valuable , and often came at crucial point of time. And that holds good for Japanese, Burmese, French, Germany and the Soviet Union too.
