Pride and Prejudice (Oxford World`s Classics) is an English classic romance novel written by author Jane Austen. The story revolves around Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. Elizabeth is the second daughter of Mrs. Bennet, whose primary goal in life is to get her five daughters married. Darcy and Elizabeth meet at a ball for the first time, where Elizabeth`s elder sister Jane and Darcy`s friend, the most eligible bachelor Mr. Bingley are immediately attracted to each other.
However, the same cannot be said about Darcy and Elizabeth. Though some sort of sparks fly between them as well, Darcy comes across as rather proud to Elizabeth and she thus forms a prejudiced opinion about him. Darcy though finds himself more and more attracted towards Elizabeth because of her magnetic charm. He eventually proposes to her but she refuses.
A series of misunderstandings follow between the two of them which leads to many ups and downs in their relationship. The story goes on to explore about their love trouble by pride and prejudice. This book is one of the most loved and famous English novels of all time and has been an inspiration to many books and movies in the same genre. Pride and Prejudice (Oxford World`s Classics) was published by Oxford University Press as Reprint edition in the year 2009 in paperback.
