Overseas doctors wishing to practice in the UK are first required to pass examinations testing for proficiency in two key areas: 1) English and 2) Medical understanding. Until recently, both elements were covered by the PLAB (`Professional & Linguistic Assessments Board`) examination. Since January 1997, however, the language component has been covered by a separate examination (the `International English Language Testing System` assessment or `IELTS`). The PLAB examination is now focused entirely on the candidate`s medical knowledge. Candidates need to pass both of these UK-based examinations before they can practice in the UK. This new book will provide the candidate with self-test question and answer practice in preparation for the MCQs section of the PLAB. The author has provided questions for all the major clinical subjects and basic sciences covered in the exam (Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, A&E, Anaesthesia, Psychiatry, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, ENT). All of the MCQs have been based on actual examination questions. ISBN 9780750640046
