The papers in this volume, presented at a national seminar on A¢??Social Anthropology in the Era of GlobalizationA¢??, held at the University of Hyderabad, address the problem of understanding the process of globalization and its impact on the poor and marginalized groups of population which are sandwiched between the dilemmas of primordial identities and the process of homogenization. They throw theoretical, methodological as well as empirical lights on various aspects of the process of globalization, and the ways in which many vulnerable communities face this inescapable force. The issues pertaining to diasporic and transnational experiences, ecological and environmental problems, health, hygiene, education, entrepreneurial behaviour, and the emergence of new literary genre and movements vis-a-vis the process of globalization have also been discussed elaborately. The volume will be of interest to the students and researchers in the fields of anthropology, sociology, history, economics and environmental studies, besides those especially interested in the study of globalization.ISBN:8180692019
