The High Powered Committee, under the Chairmanship of Dr. Y.K. Alagh, conducted an extensive study to examine the possibility of framing of necessary legislation which would enable incorporation of cooperatives as companies and conversion of existing cooperatives into companies; and ensuring that the proposed legislation accommodates the unique elements of cooperative business within a regulatory framework similar to that of companies. Based on the recommendations of the Committee, the Government introduced the Companies (Second Amendment) Act, 2002, paving the way for the formation of Producer Companies. This book is an attempt at putting forward the law relating to formation and management of Producer Companies in a simple and lucid expression. The statutory provisions contained in the new Part IXA have been extensively explained placing everything in the right perspective. The book also contains the Multi-State Co-operative Societies Act, 2002 and Rules thereon. ISBN: 8185398739
