This book addresses a variety of marital and family issues arising out of radical changes in the Indian family norms and functioning, social norms, individual styles, and gender roles and relations over the last few decades. These issues and problems, though common, are seldom discussed beyond the domestic confines due to social stigma attached to seeking ‘external’ help, and to breaking the image of the ‘picture perfect’ families. This leads to loneliness, isolation and frustration at the individual level, and aggravation of the problems at the familial level. This book systematically and dispassionately describes these issues, their roots, likely responses of people facing them, and gives tips for resolvig them. This entire exercise is done through case studies based on the author’s experience in India. The book further aims to encourage couples and families to seek counseling on issues beyond their control.
