India is a vast country and has a very long history, commencing at least from the age of the Rgveda and the Indus Civilization, 3rd millennium BC. Her culture is also naturally five millennia old. Unlike, many other classical cultures, this Indian Culture all its vigor. It is purana `very old, yet quite fresh`. Scholars constructsand write India`s past history and try to understand and appreciate her culture, only by investing the content and nature of evidences available in ancient literature, archaeological remains, epigraphs etc. This very mode of history writing (historiography) has to admit itself subject to periodical reconstructions as and when researchers discover fresh evidences or reinterpret more logically the already available evidences and thereby put an end to the misconceptions of various nature about India`s past.
