The book "Encyclopaedia of World Medicinal plants", with 62 colour plates, gives an account of medicinal plants of all the countries on planet earth. Medicinal uses of more than 4000 species are given in this book. Plant species have been arranged in alphabetical sequence. Under each species valid name, synonyms, family, brief description (for identification), distribution in the world and India, flowering and fruiting season, Sanskrit name, local names, trade names, medicinal uses and chemistry are given. For many medicinal plants detailed propagation methods have also been given. Chemical structures of some important compounds are given. Line drawings of more than 500 plants and photographs of more than 300 plants (mostly Indian) are given.
An extensive bibliography has been given at the end. Index to synonyms and Index to trade names have been given for easy location. Explanation to medical terms has been provided. Information on medicinal plants trade and addresses of companies in medicinal plants trade and pharmaceutical (both in India and abroad) has been given. List of plants used for different ailments are also given.
