This book describes firstly, how Buddhism came to Tibet and then was developed to suit the needs of this exceptional country and people; secondly it discusses how, for several centuries down to the present day it dominates the Tibetan nation. It starts with a short note on Tibet and its isolation, its faith before the introduction of Buddhism, the Buddha, the advent of Buddhism into Tibet, its suppression and return, its acceptance as the national religion, the poet saint Mila, the yellow hat sect, its spread to Mongolia, the building of the Potala, the Christian missionaries in Lhasa, the power of the monasteries, the priests at civil and military officers, the Dalai Lamas and finally there is a chapter on the sources from which he material in this book is derived.
