This book lists the historical inscriptions of Southern India collected till 1923 along with the outlines of political history. Inscriptions that are updated and those which mention only the regnal year of the ruler are generally omitted in this work, unless they possess some independent historical value, in which case then, they are gone into. For the ease of the students who wish to examine all known records of a particular prince, the author has created a voluminous index attached to the volume’s annual reports of the Epigraphical Department of the Archaeological Survey of South India.
