Whatever tends to increase the sphere of knowledge is unquestionably important, and in this respect history and geography have a conspicuous claim to our attention. Rich in titles on English life and social history, this collection spans the world as it was known to eighteenth-century historians and explorers. This is a pictorial book that gives copper plate illustrations of the areas around Mysore written about a decade after the fall of Tipu Sultan, the description also recount the military manoeuvers and operations that those site were home to. Unfortunately for themselves, they had, to do with an enemy too politic, and too powerful. Their ambitious dreams have vanished, and the present Sultan of Mysore has found himself compelled to relinquish half his dominions, as a security that he would no more attempt to disturb the tranquility of his neighbours. The areas discussed are Bangalore, Savendroog, Maugree, Ootradroog, Ramgaree, Chenepatam, Oliahdroog, Sheragunga, Seringapatam and Peddinaigdroogm. This book contains 29 fine illustrations which the author has taken from his drawings. This book is the reprint of the 1808 edition.
