The book is a collection of 87 fairy stories set in Ceylon. The charm of the dream story is a never failing attraction with children and the author feels sure that the story of ‘Leela’s Dreams’ will find a ready place in the hearts of the children in the school. The notable feature is that the book shows sympathetic understanding of the child mind which is too often lacking in the level of the school. It is a story of a widow, who lived in a small house with two little daughters which was surrounded by a beautiful garden in Ceylon. After her husband’s death she did not leave this place. She loved their customs and tradition and brought up her kids on the tradition of this land and stayed their till her death. It contains seven attractive dream stories like -- the little flower fairies, Princess Daisy’s wedding, the rose devi, Bluebell, the star flower devi, Bruin the bear, the children’s heaven, a visit to the sea shore, Leela’s illness and the coronation, etc. The book contains also six fine illustrations by Ernest Vandort.
