In 1989, the joint Working Party on Child Health Surveillance published the first edition of Health for All Children, which reviewed screening and prevention services for preschool children. The second edition was published in 1992 and the third in 1996, to take account of new insights into screening and child health promotion. The present government is committed to reducing inequalities and improving children`s lives and is making a substantial investment in early years` work, education, and children`s mental health. This new edition, the fourth, has been extensively revised to take account of this changing political landscape. Its scope has been extended to include the school years and services for children who need extra help and support.Health for All Children sets out a rational approach to planning and decision-making for those who commission or provide services for children. It is not the last word on the subject-the authors will be delighted if new research and new ideas call for a fifth edition within a few years. This book will, like its previous editions, be essential reading for all health professionals who work with children whether in the community or at the receiving end of referrals. It will also provide vital background knowledge for those charged with the responsibility of planning, commissioning, and monitoring.ISBN - 9780195666540
