The religion, culture and civilisation of Islam are so rich and fascinating in their own right that they deserve to be better known, not only by non-Muslims but also by many Muslims. So long as Prophet Mohammed lived, he remained the central figure of attraction. By the time the Prophet passed away almost the whole of the Arabian Peninsula had embraced Islam. The early Muslims with the missionary zeal of the Master carried the torch after him almost with the same fervour and enthusiasm.
Lightning-like, the Faith of Islam started spreading far and wide and within one century after Holy Prophet, we see Damascus, Jerusalem, Babylon, Madayan, Isfahan, Alexandria, Tripoli, Cyprus etc. all embraced Islam. Soon Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco fell to the marching Muslim merchants who were at the same time preachers. Likewise Islam was embraced in other parts of the world during the course of history in one way or the other.
Starting from a brief history of the Muslim people and how the Faith of Islam spread across the globe beginning from the Arabian Peninsula followed by the Chronology of events, this Gazetteer contains Facts and Figures, Geography, History, Economic Survey and Educational progress of each Muslim country as well as non-Muslim country where they are in minority.
