Mauritius, once the home of the ill-fated Dodo (Symbol of Gerald Durrell`s Jersey Wildlife Preservation Trust), still has amongs its fauna many unique but endangered species, among them Mauritian kestrels, Telfair`s skinks, Gunther`s geckos and Pink pigeons.
