Olivia has certain letters from her cousin Catherine, a deceased nun, who was in the process of being considered by the Catholic Church for beatification, which one final step prior to sainthood.
While she was alive, Sister Catherine founded, in an act of great generosity, seven hospitals for physically challenged children. A four-year-old boy, who was on the brink of death because of brain cancer, is on the miraculous route to recovery, and his cure is being attributed to her. This is because after his particular case was declared hopeless, the boy`s distraught mother had planned a prayer movement in the name of Sister Catherine, which subsequently led to signs of his miraculous recovery.
Olivia holds evidence, in the form of the letters, which states facts pertaining to Catherine’s pregnancy when she was seventeen. Her son was soon given up for adoption. Ironically, the man who was the father of Catherine’s son became a renowned inventor, scientist, and doctor. Furthermore, Olivia is privy to this man’s identity as well as the rightful and legal heir to his fortune.
After the passage of a few generations, comes Dr. Monica Farrell, a thirty-one-year-old pediatrician. She is in the dark about her real identity, an identity Olivia is well aware of. However, if Olivia were to reveal to Monica her real identity, she would be betraying Catherine.
Elsewhere, Greg and Peter Gannon, are spending an inheritance that is not entirely their own, without hesitation. The Gannons, along with other members of the board of the Gannon Foundation, cover up their extravagant and wasteful lifestyles with benevolence, but Olivia knows their secret. Slowly, the carefully structured façade of these two men is peeling away.
