The above mentioned book of Chemistry has primarily been written with the aim of meeting with the needs and interests of students, seeking admission to professional courses, especially in engineering and medical. A competitive examination is totally different from ordinary examination, because in competitive examination, securing a definite percentage of marks does not give you a guarantee that you have achieved the desired success but you should have an edge over other aspirants. No doubt, the syllabus for various competitions is nearly the same as for intermediate or 10+2 examinations, yet even good students fail to qualify as standard of these competitions is comparatively high and seats in engineering and medical colleges are limited.
The present trend in competitive examinations is the stress on objective rather than subjective treatment of the subject matter. A critical scrutiny of question papers of previous years, on both preliminary and final examinations, reveals that in order to answer these questions, the students must be well equipped with thorough knowledge of the subject, as well as its application. With these objectives in mind, the authors have tried to present the complete subject matter in three books, pertaining to three branches of Chemistry, in order to cover the entire syllabus of nearly all the competitions like IIT-JEE, AIEEE, EAMCET, CBSE (Medical), PMT (Various States), AIIMS, AFMC etc. At the end of each chapter, a good number of questions of various types have been given for self-assessment. Each chapter has been equipped with summary and important points to remember.
New editions are blended in accordance with new pattern of IIT entrance examination. Objective questions and their solutions are illustrated in the text section. Thought type questions, and multiple matching type questions are given in each chapter. General questions of various types have been given in each book. A new section of Integer answer type questions is introduced. In Inorganic Chemistry, Revision exercises based on new pattern of IIT at appropriate places have been given. Practice test papers have been added at the end of the book. Suggestions received from learned teachers have been incorporated in the new edition of the books.
