About the Author Professor Alok Tripathi (b. 1965) is a young leading archaeologist in the country having long experience in archaeology. Presently, Director, Centre for Archaeology and Museology, and Head, Department of History in the Assam University, Silchar he is known as a renowned authority in underwater archaeology in Asia-Pacific region. With his background in science he learned and mastered in diverse branches of archaeology excavations, underwater archaeology, heritage management, laws, remote sensing, art and architecture, and museuology. Widely travelled and worked in more than 15 countries in Europe, Africa and Asia, he has executed a number of prestigious projects and directed important archaeological excavations.
