About the Author
Shri EN Rammohan was born in 1940 and joined the IPS in 1965 in the Assam Cadre. He has served in senior positions in ITBP, CBI, CRPF, NSG and BSF including as IG (Ops) both in CRPF (North East) and BSF (Kashmir). He was DG BSF from Dec 1997 to Nov 2000, and Advisor to Governor Manipur from Jun 2001 to Mar 2002. He was awarded the President`s Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 1991. While in service he had built a reputation as a competent, honest and forthright officer. After retirement he has been taking keen interest in internal security matters, border management, and counter-terrorism, and has written on these extensively. His autobiography `Simply Khaki` is an enjoyable read and his book `Insurgent Frontiers: Essays from the Troubled North East` is a must read for those interested in India`s North East.
