The Study of Overseas Indians has emerged as rich and variegated area of multidisciplinary research interest. Among the disciplines contributing to this field of immense theoretical potential as well as imminent policy import, sociology and economics have been in the forefront. This revised edition also deals with the empirical reality of Overseas Indians and theoretical and methodological issues raised in it. Thematically, it covers history of Indians immigration, social adjustment, family change, language problem, religion, ethinicity and culture, and cultural integration and syncreticism. Thus encompassing the classical and modern diaspora, the anthology not only seeks to arrive at the generalities of the global Indian diaspora, but also to highlight its specialities across space and time. Together with its analytical study and selected bibliography, this two volumes book, it is hoped, would be a useful reference work for all those interested in Indian diaspora as an area of academic study.
