Set in present day New York and Karachi, Matter of Detail is a family saga, a satire on being stateless. Haji Rueewallah is a businessman in Karachi with two wives; Hajrabai is from the Bnai Israel community and Zareenabai is his first cousin and second wife. Then there are others: Hajras brother Meir and his son Emir, Rehana, a young architect, a business tycoon and Zain, an investment banker, Zains friend Alejendro, an office receptionist, and Noor Afshan, a call girl.
Matter of Detail is a story of the love and understanding between Haji Rueewallah, his wives and their five children, and those who touch their lives. The shared bond of familial love gives them the strength to accept each others differences and hypocrisies with humour, to thrive in the face of circumstances they cannot control and to tackle those they can. This love is a potent antidote for fear. Through drama, A Matter of Detail makes a social and political commentary in this warm, nostalgic and humorous story that covers a wide canvas: emotional, political as well as geographical. Light-hearted, frivolous, optimistic and joyful, we can identify with Haji Rueewallah and the eccentric and sympathetic personalities who inhabit his world. The diversity of the characters give Matter of Detail its strength in this story of intrigue, misunderstanding and reconciliation. ISBN - 9788183860833
