Consequently, the University of Kashmir, in close collaboration with the Atomic Energy Commission and the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, organised a three-day National Seminar on Energy Problems and Prospects in the Jammu and Kashmir State in Srinagar from June 24 to 26, 1985. The object of this Seminar was to evaluate critically the energy situation in the State, assess its needs and suggest ways and means to minimise and, if possible, eliminate in the foreseeable future the scarcity of power. The Seminar brought together on a common plateform energy experts from Educational, Research institutions as also experts from the Government Departments in the Centre and the State as well as policy planners and decision-makers so that a comprehensive policy to tackle the energy problem was evolved. This book brings together various papers presented in the Seminar.
