Starting from 1872, the four census operations in Burma prior to 1911 were very much restricted in scope as well as area. Fifth census of Burma undertaken in 1911 covered the British administered territories and other provinces as well. The book is divided in two volumes. vol. 1 consisting of the reports, contains detailed information on history, geography, religion, customs, sex ratio, education, occupation, various castes and tribes. Tables and maps have been provided to enhance the utility of the book. vol. 3 is exclusively devoted to elaborate tables. 740 pp, in 2 vols, maps/tables, reproduced.
